Aston Villa 0-6 Liverpool: Daniel Sturridge scores on return to the starting XI - 5 things we learned

Aston Villa remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the
Premier League table after being hammered 6-0 at home
to Liverpool.

Daniel Sturridge returned to the starting XI to score his
third Premier League goal of the season, which was also
his third goal against Aston Villa this season.

James Milner then doubled Liverpool's advantage when his
free-kick evaded everyone in the box to nestle firmly in the
corner of Mark Bunn's net.

Emre Can then sealed the result with a well-placed effort
from the edge of the box before Divock Origi, Nathaniel
Clyne and Kolo Toure added a gloss.

goal for Liverpool

1. Sturridge still has his dance moves

It was over two months since Daniel Sturridge had scored
previously after fresh injury problems but he took just 16
minutes to get off the mark against his old club, where he
was in the academy as a youngster for four years, and it
prompted the striker's signature dancing moves.

2. Villa's wretched form continues

Last weekend's win over Norwich was only Villa's 19th
victory in their last 82 league games at Villa Park since
December 2011 and normal service was resumed here for
Liverpool's visit.

3. Liverpool beat Villa again

There was a touch of Ground Hog Day about Liverpool's
victory as the Reds have won 25 Premier League games
versus Villa - more than against any other club.
Five: Nathaniel Clyne celebrates scoring Liverpool's fifth goal

4. Liverpool love it on top

The Reds are yet to lose a league game in which they have
led and they always looked likely to avoid defeat here after
taking the lead in the 16th minute from Sturridge's header.

5. Disappointing return for Benteke

Christian Benteke, signed for £32.5million from Villa last
summer, was again on the bench for Liverpool as he
struggles to win over boss Jurgen Klopp. Benteke scored
49 goals in 101 appearances for Villa – how they would
love him back.

after scoring the final goal for Liverpool
