Rwanda: Tuyisenge Officially Unveiled By Gor Mahia
Amavubi team captain Jacques Tuyisenge was officially unveiled
by his new club Gor Mahia FC of the Kenya Premier League
on Tuesday evening at the club secretariat, Nyayo national
stadium in Nairobi.
The 24-year-old striker left the country on Monday evening
after Amavubi were knocked out of the ongoing Africa
Nations Championship (CHAN) in the quarter-finals on
Saturday by DR Congo 2-1, to complete his transfer.
Tuyisenge signed a two-year contract with record 15 times
Kenyan Premier League champion from Rwanda Police FC in a
reported US$ 40,000 (about Rwf30 million) deal.
Tuyisenge will wear the number 9 shirt, the same number that
he has been wearing in Police FC and Amavubi-he joins the
reigning Kenyan Premier League champions as direct
replacement for former Rwanda international Meddie Kagere.
Tuyisenge helped hosts Rwanda to the quarter-finals of the
ongoing CHAN tournament after beating Ivory Coast and
Gabon in the group stages before losing to Morocco.
He scored three goals for Amavubi at last year's CECAFA
Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia which helped Rwanda reach
the final but lost to Uganda. Tuyisenge also led Police FC to
last year's Peace Cup.
The Kenya Premier League is set to kick off on February 17
and the former Etincelles and SC Kiyovu forward will make his
debut against Chemelil Sugar FC.
